Arthur Harry Roberts, Age 37

Private, 25031, 1st Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry.

Arthur was born in Dawley and was serving with the 1st Battalion KSLI on the Loo’s front holding trenches north of Lens in the notorious Hill 70 sector during the period 21st -30th of September 1917.

Arthur was killed in action during this time falling on the 25th September 1917 his body is buried in Loo’s British Cemetery in grave XX.F.15.

Arthur was born in Dawley and Christened on the 4th Jan 1880 at Dawley Church, his father was Henry Roberts and mother Ann (maiden name Bate), in 1881 Arthur aged one was living at Old Park, he had an older brother Edward James and a sister Mary Ann, between 1891 and 1901 he lived at Red Lake Ketley, Arthur married Ada Annie Lowe in the third quarter of 1903, in 1911 Arthur and Ada were living at 9 Days Buildings, Ketley with a daughter and three sons.
